The dictionary says that a remnant is an unused part of something. We might consider them cast-offs or scraps, the leftovers from what was useful. It is these tiny left over pieces that make up my #tinycollages. It started one day while I was cleaning my desk. I was collecting all the little odd bits and pieces left laying around, and decided they were too pretty to throw away. So I put them in an envelope, not knowing what I would ever do with them. A couple of weeks later, I was inspired by Roben Marie Smith, when I saw her tutorial on Art Bit Clips, and how she was using little pieces of stitched papers to decorate clips. I remembered my little envelope of saved bits and was inspired to create some little collages. I can remember working one day and my daughter asking what I was doing. I said, “Gluing pieces of trash to other pieces of trash.” She nodded her head as if to say, she wasn’t surprised. We both laughed and I ended up making fifty tiny little works of art that afternoon. I was in love!
These tiny collages have reminded me and given me a lovely glimpse of the love of God and how He still wants us, even when we are broken, torn and feel used up. He still sees something of value in us even when we are at our worst. When we surrender to His hand, He will take our broken pieces, our scarred up tattered edges, and put them back together in the most lovely ways. This is what His grace and mercy look like. He gives us His beauty for our ashes. Nothing is ever wasted or thrown out. That is just how the love of God works.
I hope my #tinycollages can be a lovely reminder to all who see them of how much value and beauty there can be in small and simple things.

The thing I love most about collage art, is that each piece used tells it's own story. When you put them all together, you are crafting the story you want to tell, visually.
Let us craft a #tinycollage for you that tells the story you want to tell. We can create a custom collage just for you, for any reason. Do you have a loved one or pet that you would like to honor? Perhaps you want to memorialize a special event, like your wedding, a birthday or graduation. Or maybe you would like to have a collage that reflects you, your personality, your own personal story.
We would love to work with you in collecting special mementos or textiles to combine with color and textured artist papers to create a lovely piece you will treasure.
